Factors influencing the hematological parameters among laborers at a gas service station in Rayong Province, Thailand

The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the factors that influenced hematological parameters among gasoline station service workers. sample comprised a total 200 people split between those working at fuel dispenser and outside dispenser. Interview forms, urine collection devices, blood analysis samples were used analyze Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene (BTEX) metabolites parameters. showed employees had been exposed benzene (t,t-MA) exceeding standard, which 29.5 percent. toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene all within standard limit. Information concerning hematology found MCV below level, 37.5 percent, while mean cell hemoglobin (MCH) hematocrit (HCT) also limit (36.5 32.0 respectively). results logistic regression revealed influencing statistically significant (p<0.05). Affected females reported as having abnormal MCH (OR=2.94; 95% CI=1.58, 5, 47), concentration (MCHC) (OR=2.68; CI= 1.03, 6.98) red distribution width (RDW) (OR=2.16; CI=1.04, 4.49). Body mass index (BMI) affected (OR=1.86; CI=1.03, 3.35) MCHC (OR=1.89; 95%CI=1.04, 3.43). Gasohol refueling cells (RBC) (OR=2.35; CI=1.19, 4.67) (HB) (OR=1.95; CI =1.01, 3.79). White count (WBC) by more than 11 vans per day (OR=3.59; CI=1.25, 12.48). In conclusion, personal well employment gas stations put workers risk for RBC, HB, WBC abnormalities. This identified groups who high effects, particularly female with BMI greater average. Furthermore, gasohol should be carried out carefully minimize any potentially negative effects on system when vapors.
